One of the Boys by Jayne Cowie

“Because when people didn’t know, they assumed you were bad.”  One of the Boys by Jayne Cowie is an excellent read. I was instantly captivated by this world of boys who were being tested or not and the repercussions behind each parent’s decision. While there were parts that I figured out what was going to happen, it didn’t detract from the story at all. The dual timeline created tension and really made me see Bea’s point of view. Well-written and so many opportunities for a rich discussion during a book club, I highly recommend this.

The Night it Ended by Katie Garner

The Night it Ended by Katie Garner is so compelling. You never quite know who is telling the truth and by the time you figure it out, it’s a twist. The constant feel of suspense is unsettling and even when putting this book down, I was still thinking about it. I really enjoyed this debut book!
