Fool Me Once by Ashley Winstead


Fool Me Once by Ashley Winstead starts off strong and goes nowhere but up. Lee Stoner is a flawed yet completely relatable character. Her chemistry with Ben was off the charts. I loved their banter and the deep way they connected over their fathers. What had me laughing out loud several times were the nicknames that Lee kept picking up. I loved seeing Lee’s determination and drive when it came to her job. She was good at what she did and she knew it. That kind of confidence is inspiring to see. I was completely satisfied with the ending but I do have one question- what the heck does Mac do?

  I Love it When You Lie by Kristen Bird is a Southern mystery where a family will do anything to protect each other. I loved how complicated these women were. They each had their own issues and getting to see their inner thoughts as they dealt with them was fascinating. There was no black and white here, rather many instances of gray. I enjoyed the writing and how humor was interspersed throughout. I wouldn’t call this a mystery, as much as women’s fiction.

Berkley Rom-Coms

  A romance novel with action? This is a sub-genre I had no idea I would enjoy as much as I did. Raiders of the Lost Heart plays on the big adventure movies and does it in a way that the entire story feels fresh. Enemies to lovers is another trope that plays out. Corrie and Ford have great chemistry and their rivalry sets the tone for how hard they fall. This was a really enjoyable read.  Housebroke by Jaci Burton pairs a millionaire and a woman just trying to get by. Dogs are heavily featured in this so if that’s not something you are interested in, keep that in mind. This was a fast read, one that needs a bit of suspension of disbelief. Linc was a great character and he matched well with Hazel.
